Neon released the new trailer for Kleber Mendonça Filho’s The Secret Agent. Starring Wagner Moura, the film follows widower Marcelo (Moura) who arrives in 1977 in Recife, Brazil, a city as vibrant as it is violent. A technology researcher who suddenly finds himself an unwitting target in the heart of the dictatorship’s political maelstrom, Marcelo is a man on the run from mercenary killers, from ghosts of the past and from the ruthless, mischievously militant spirit of Brazil in 1977.

The Secret Agent received multiple prizes at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival. Moura won Best Actor, Filho received Best Director, and the film itself won the Firpresci Prize. It was also selected as Brazil’s submission to the 2026 Academy Awards for International Feature.

Neon will release the film in the United States starting November 26.

Here is the new official trailer for The Secret Agent. The new poster follows.
