Lady Gaga One Step Closer To EGOT With Win At 46th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards

The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the 46th Annual Sports Emmy® Awards. The ceremony was hosted by Roy Wood Jr., award-winning comedian, writer, and producer, and presented live at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Frederick P. Rose Hall, Broadway at 60th Street, New York City. The show is available to watch at watch.theemmys.tv.

The live ceremony was filled with more than 1,200 attendees including a star-studded group of luminaries from the world of sports television and distinguished guests. Adam Sharp, President & CEO, NATAS, welcomed the audience followed by the evening’s host, Roy Wood Jr.. Highlights of the award show included the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Honor to Emmy® Award-Winning Sports Producer David Hill, by Fox NFL Sunday hosts Michael Strahan, Terry Bradshaw, Curt Menefee, Jimmy Johnson, Howie Long, and Jay Glazer, and a video from Keith Urban. Other notable presenters included Kenan Thompson, Scott Van Pelt (ESPN), Charissa Thompson (Prime Video), Greg Olsen (Fox Sports), Lauren Shehadi (MLB Network), Jamie Erdahl (NFL), Carlota Vizmanos (Telemundo Deportes), Kate Scott (CBS Sports) and Anson Carter (TNT).

Lady Gaga won her first-ever Emmy® Award for her work on the submission “Hold My Hand” ahead of Super Bowl LIX in the Music Direction category. NBC/Peacock’s coverage of the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad received ten wins, including Outstanding Live Special Championship Event, and two for Steven Spielberg for producing and writing the “Land of Stories” opening. Outstanding Personality winners include Charles Barkley (TNT) for studio analyst, Peyton Manning (ESPN2) for event analyst, and Joe Davis (Fox) for play-by-play. View all winners at the attachment below.

The Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to a student pursuing a career in sports television, was presented to Josiah Wonnell, a student from Olathe, Kansas, who will be going to Abilene Christian University. The Jim McKay Memorial Scholarship honors sportscaster Jim McKay (1921-2008) and was established in 2009. The scholarship is funded by ABC/ESPN, CBS, FOX, HBO, and NBC.

For the fourth year, the Coca-Cola Company awarded a $40,000 HBCU Sports Production Grant at the event. Students from Southern University and A&M College earned the grant for their winning submission. It was judged on a creative video and essay that addressed this year’s competition theme: the past, present or future of sports at your university.

Emmy® Award winners were presented in 47 categories, including Outstanding Live Special and Live Series, four Documentary categories, Journalism, Public Service Content, Esports Coverage, Outstanding Studio Host, Event Analyst and Emerging On-Air Talent, among others.
