Dr. Frank Langdon may not be the most personable or patient doctors on Max’s smash hit series, The Pitt, created by R. Scott Gemmill and executive produced by John Wells (ER) and star Noah Wiley, but he is a skilled and committed senior resident at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Hospital’s Emergency Room. He’s also incredibly handsome, has a wicked smile and great hair. But don’t let his “ER Ken” looks and demeanor fool you, he’s quite the complicated character, and Patrick Ball manages to imbue him with the just right amount of arrogance, ambition, desperation and vulnerability.
Patrick Ball finds himself deservedly in the Emmy conversation because of his outstanding work.
Ball is currently in previews as Hamlet in Center Theatre Group’s production of a condensed version of the Shakespeare play in L.A., directed by Tony nominee Robert O’Hara (Slave Play)– running just under two hours. It’s a Neo-Noirish take on the piece.
The thesp appeared in a number of plays regionally and in NYC. He received his MFA in Acting from the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale and then guest-starred on Law & Order before landing Langdon and The Pitt.
He will be filming season two of The Pitt simultaneous with performing Hamlet, which opened June 4th (Season 2 of The Pitt commenced filming June 5th!)
The Contending had the pleasure of a video chat with the refreshingly humble Ball, who also happens to be a committed cinephile.
