We haven’t seen 3-time Oscar winner Daniel Day-Lewis onscreen in nearly a decade, but now he’s back. Anemone not only marks his return to acting, but it also marks his debut as a screenwriter in a collaboration with son Ronan Day-Lewis who also directs. The film explores the complex and profound ties that exist between brothers, fathers, and sons. Sean Bean and Samantha Morton also star. The Anemone trailer follows below.

Anemone will make its world premiere at the New York Film Festival, followed by a limited theatrical release on October 3, expanding October 10.

Yup, I’ve had him penciled in Best Actor for a while.

The film may also become a priority for Focus if both Hamnet and Bugonia fail to deliver at Venice/Telluride.
