The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) tonight announced the winners of the News categories at the 46th Annual News & Documentary Emmy® Awards, presented at the Palladium Times Square in New York City.

Al Roker, the Emmy-winning weather and feature anchor of NBC News’ TODAY and co-host of The 3rd Hour of TODAY, received the Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his trailblazing career and lasting impact on news broadcasting. The award was presented by acclaimed journalist Bryant Gumbel, with video messages from colleagues Katie Couric, Carson Daly, Dylan Dreyer, Savannah Guthrie, Lester Holt, and Craig Melvin, along with a look back at his career.

The evening’s presenters included prominent voices from across the broadcast and digital news landscape: Jason Bellini (Scripps), Morgan Chesky (NBC News), Katie Kingsbury (The New York Times), Leila Molana-Allen (PBS NewsHour), Rhana Natour (Al Jazeera), Abby Phillip (CNN), Deborah Roberts (ABC News), Julio Vaqueiro (Telemundo), and Bill Whitaker (CBS News).

The News & Documentary Emmy® Awards are presented in two separate ceremonies:

  • News programming was honored this evening.

  • Documentary categories will be presented tomorrow, June 27, also at the Palladium.

Both events are available via live stream at 7:30 p.m. EDT / 4:30 p.m. PDT on Watch.TheEmmys.tv and through The Emmys® apps across major platforms.

“The talents of our journalistic and documentary communities have profoundly shaped our culture and nation,” said Terry O’Reilly, Chair of NATAS. “In the face of an evolving media landscape, their dedication to truth and storytelling has illuminated critical issues and empowered the public.”

Adam Sharp, President and CEO of NATAS, added: “We are proud to celebrate those who do the brave work of bringing truth to our nation’s screens. Their commitment sets a high bar for future generations of journalists and documentarians. We are especially pleased to recognize the contributions of Al Roker and our 2025 Gold & Silver Circle honorees.”

The Gold and Silver Circle is a society honoring members of the television and wider broadcasting community who have made an enduring contribution to the industry. These honorees are an elite group of professionals who have made significant contributions to television for 50 and 25 years, respectively.

GOLD CIRCLE – 2025 NEWS INDUCTEES:

  • Martha Teichner (Correspondent & Journalist, CBS Sunday Morning)

SILVER CIRCLE – 2025 NEWS INDUCTEES:

  • Cater Lee (Executive Management, Spectrum News and E.W. Scripps)

This year’s ceremony was produced by NATAS with Lisa Armstrong and Adam Sharp serving as Executive Producers, and Amy Schmelzer as News & Documentary Administration. The program was directed by John D’Incecco.
