As the hottest show of the summer ends, Emmy Rossum talks to The Contending about that Furious ending as well as Alice and Catherine’s complicated relationship.
The cat-and-mouse chase between FBI agent Alice (Emmy Rossum) and serial killer Catherine (Lola Petticrew) has reached its conclusion in Furious on Hulu, and a few questions still linger. Like, does Alice think of Catherine almost as the child she gave up?
“Was there a baby?” says Rossum. “I mean, we know she was pregnant, but we don’t know. I‘m going to keep what I think about that secret for now.”
However, Rossum agrees that there is some sort of special connection between them, like “an invisible thread.”
“They’re both victims of violence. They both are not even sure they can get justice for themselves, right? Catherine is out for justice or vengeance on behalf of Isabel, and Alice is looking for it for victims that are not her. Maybe they don’t feel like they’re deserving of it. I think they both know that there’s something. They both say that there’s something bad inside them. Alice wishes she could make it better and doesn’t know how. And that’s because someone broke her at a really young age and has caused her to be so disconnected from herself, from her body. And Catherine is, too.”
