Theo Rossi Trifecta: In-Depth Chat About His 3 Fab New Films: ‘Bruton,’ ‘Come With Me,’ & ‘The Saviors’ [VIDEO]

The ubiquitous, gifted and versatile actor Theo Rossi stars in a trilogy of taut, captivating indie films, coming soon to theaters, that have one thing in common–besides Theo’s stellar work–they’re all socially relevant.

With Bruton, Rossi has one of his best most dynamic roles portraying real-life figure Bryan Bruton, who, through a series of unfortunate incidents, finds himself sentenced to ten years in a Florida prison, leaving a wife and child behind. While behind bars, he finds a way to capitalize on his circumstances by building an underground radio station and then planning an elaborate escape, with the help of a female correctional officer, Maura Willis (a magnetic Tammy Blanchard).

Inspired by Bruton’s true story, this engrossing feature is written, directed and edited by Vincent Grashaw, who is obviously a Scorsese fan.

Rossi brings great nuance and shadings to a protagonist who could have easily been seen as unsympathetic. Rossi’s fascinating performance allows us inside the psyche of a man who is just trying to survive and thrive in a world that sets ordinary people up to fail.

Simon, Rossi’s lead character in Aaron Harvey’s engrossing and disturbing thriller, Come with Me, is a confused and troubled soul, cohabitating with his girlfriend (Kate French) and working a crap job. After suffering a home invasion as well as the loss of his best friend, he is fueled and manipulated by a hate-mongering, rhetoric-spewing radio host and decides to take matters into his own hands.

Again, Rossi fleshes out an internally incendiary character by allowing us to experience his pain, confusion and, ultimately understanding his breaking point.

His role in the dark comedy thriller The Saviors, directed by Kevin Hamedani, walks a fine enigmatic line which is necessary for the dictates of the script. Amir (Rossi) and his sister Jahan (a wonderful Nazanin Boniadi) move into a well-to-do suburban couple’s garage apartment. Bizarre things begin to happen and Sean and Kim, played by Danielle Deadwyler and Adam Scott, begin to suspect that their Middle Eastern guests are plotting a terrorist attack. And Amir and Jahan start to question who and what Sean and Kim are up to. Something very strange is definitely afoot.

The film deals with xenophobia, prejudice, paranoia, perception and misperception. Rossi and Boniadi grounds the film with authentic portrayals.

Rossi’s film credits include Red Sands (2009), Bad Hurt (2016), When the Bough Breaks (2016), Vault (2017), Lowriders (2017), American Skin (2019), Ghosts of War (2020), Emily the Criminal (2022 Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Supporting Performance), Vendetta (2022), Dear Zoe (2022), Carry-On (2024) and Play Dirty (2025, co-writer).

On TV he is best known for playing Juice in all seven seasons of Sons of Anarchy and portraying Shades on Marvel’s Luke Cage. Other TV credits: Boston Public, Malcolm in the Middle, American Dreams, Veronica Mars, Lost, Bones, Jericho, Las Vegas, Grey’s Anatomy, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Alcatraz, True Story and The Penguin.

And, coming up, he has no less than five other projects including Ari Schlossberg’s vampire thriller, Young Blood, Jenna Laurenzo’s rom-com, Maid of Dishonor and Anton Sigurdsson’s dark comedy thriller, A Better Place. He is currently filming the TV series, Delphi, about budding boxers.

Come with Me is being released this fall.
