What is The Contending?
When Clarence Moye, Joey Moser, and I started writing for Awards Daily back in 2014, we had no idea the wild ride we were about to go on. What started as writing TV recaps for Under the Dome led to covering international film festivals, interviewing some of the best talent in the business, and even attending the big show itself — the Oscars.
We’re thankful to Sasha Stone for sharing her site for the past 10 years. Inspired by her singular voice, we have decided to break out on our own with The Contending.
What does The Contending mean? you might ask.
The Contending is an inclusive space for all TV shows, films, actors, and below-the-line talent to keep on your radar during every awards race. While we’re obviously interested in who makes it to the final ballot, we’re also advocates for the little engines that could and spotlighting up-and-coming talent and projects on the journey to the ballot. What’s the best show you’re not watching? What’s the breakout film performance of the year? We’re not only excited to dig into these conversations but invite our readers and listeners to engage in them as well.
