VIDEO: Isa Briones Reveals What It’s Like to Be the Most Hated Character on ‘The Pitt’

The Pitt‘s Isa Briones doesn’t mind being the villain on the hit Max medical drama. In fact, she sorta likes it!

You only get one chance to make a first impression. But it’s easy to forget that Dr. Santos, played by Isa Briones, is only on her first day as a resident in Season 1 of The Pitt. She has 15 episodes to make a bad impression!

“She comes in hot,” jokes Briones in a video interview with The Contending. “I think, absolutely, there’s a softer version we haven’t met. Because whenever I have met someone that is like Santos, it means that there is something deeper going on; it means actually they’re hiding something very vulnerable.”

Talk about a crazy first day! Not only does she have to deal with a mass casualty shooting, she also uncovers that senior team member, Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball), is stealing drugs from patients.

“Obviously, their relationship was fraught from the beginning, and there was obviously animosity right away. But I really do think, and this is backed up by like other things that happened throughout the season, that you see that she’s a very observant and perceptive person. When she is rubbing people the wrong way, it’s not because she can’t tell that she’s doing it. She’s like, I know. Yeah, it’s all on purpose. It’s calculated.”

Was she looking to get him in trouble or was it a genuine discovery?

“She was definitely on the lookout for Langdon because they didn’t like each other, and they were clashing so much. But I really do think that it just also speaks to her experience and how she can be very cautious of people and be very perceptive and watching. And in that situation, more watching for someone’s fall. But still, it is, I think, just part of her character, who she is. She’s very observant.”
