The Contending staff makes their official predictions for the 2025 Golden Globes in categories covering film and television.

The 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards, “Hollywood’s Party of the Year®,” will air Sunday night on CBS at 5 pm PT / 8 pm ET and stream exclusively on Paramount+. On the film front, Emilia Pérez led the 2025 Golden Globes nominations with a near-record haul of 10 bids. The Brutalist and Conclave followed with 7 and 6 nominations, respectively. On the TV front, The Bear led with 5 nominations followed by Shōgun and Only Murders in the Building with four each.

Since their restructuring and purchase by Penske Media, the Golden Globes seem to align themselves with the common consensus and could be an excellent predictor of the 2025 Oscars. However, we won’t really know how predictive the new Golden Globes will be until we have a few years of data. Still, there’s no doubt that they remain influential, at the very least for their winners platform where a great speech could make or break a contender’s awards campaign. For example, given her recent omission from the 2025 BAFTA shortlist, Maria‘s Angelina Jolie, should she win Drama Actress, could make up some ground with a heartfelt on-stage moment.

The Contending offers below its predictions in all categories across Film and Television. We will live post the winners on Sunday night here on the website and offer commentary through our X handle.
