I think a lot of queer people have had to hide a bit of themselves when they’re parents come over. Remember when a spooked straight son in The Birdcage was trying to unhomo his father’s house: “Don’t add. Just subtract,” he said.
In Andrew Ahn’s remake of Ang Lee’s 1995 comedy dropped its first trailer after positive audience reactions out of Sundance. The film, about a marriage of convenience that hits some snags, stars Tran, Bowen Yang, Lily Gladstone, Han Gi-Chan, and recent Supporting Actress winner, Youn Yuh-Jung.
The Wedding Banquet debuts in theaters on April 18.
