This weekend, Rian Johnson’s Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. Festival audiences and critics received the film warmly with a handful calling it the best of Johnson’s mystery trilogy. Wake Up Dead Man currently has a 95% approval on Rotten Tomatoes. So, to take advantage of the buzz, Netflix dropped the Wake Up Dead Man teaser trailer today.
Visually, Wake Up Dead Man feels more like the first Knives Out than its sunnier sequel. However, it continues Johnson’s trend of assembling a star-studded cast. Joining Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc are the following:
- Josh O’Connor (Challengers, The Crown)
- Glenn Close (Dangerous Liaisons, Fatal Attraction)
- Josh Brolin (No Country for Old Men, Dune)
- Mila Kunis (Black Swan, Luckiest Girl Alive)
- Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Town)
- Kerry Washington (Scandal, Django Unchained, The Six Triple Eight)
- Andrew Scott (All of Us Strangers, Ripley)
- Cailee Spaeny (Civil War, Priscilla)
- Daryl McCormack (Good Luck to You, Leo Grande; Peaky Blinders)
- Thomas Haden Church (Sideways, Spider-Man 3)
Here’s the Wake Up Dead Man teaser trailer. The film drops in select theaters on November 26 and exclusively on Netflix on December 12.
