Legendary author Stephen King has had more than 50 of his works adapted into films and over 30 brought to life on television. This weekend, a new addition joins the collection as The Monkey, based on King’s 1980 short story, hits theaters. Written and directed by Osgood Perkins (Longlegs), the film stars Theo James and Elijah Wood as brothers who uncover their father’s vintage toy organ-grinding monkey hidden away in the attic. After its discovery, a series of eerie events unfold, leading them to suspect the toy is cursed. Tatiana Maslany co-stars as the boys’ mother, and the film is distributed by Neon.
