‘Sinners’ Wins 6 Astra Awards Including Drama, Director

The Hollywood Creative Alliance has announced the winners of the 9th Annual Astra Film Awards, presented on Friday, January 9, 2026, at the Sofitel Beverly Hills Hotel. The ceremony was hosted by Omar Miller Benson and streamed live on KNEKT.tv and YouTube.

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners emerged as the night’s top winner, earning six Astra Awards, including Best Motion Picture – Drama. The film also won Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Michael B. Jordan, Best Director for Ryan Coogler, Best Original Screenplay for Coogler, Best Cast Ensemble, and Best Original Score for Ludwig Göransson.

However, Sinners was not the only Warner Bros. film that enjoyed a strong showing throughout the evening. The studio scored a total of 11 wins across four different titles. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another claimed Best Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical and Best Adapted Screenplay, while Zach Cregger’s Weapons received two awards, including Best Horror Feature and Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama for Amy Madigan. James Gunn’s Superman took home Best Action or Science Fiction Feature.

Netflix followed closely with multiple wins led by its global hit KPop Demon Hunters, which earned three Astra Awards: Best Animated Feature, Best Original Song for “Golden,” and Best Voice-Over Performance for Arden Cho for her role as Rumi. Netflix also secured Best Documentary for The Perfect Neighbor and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical for Adam Sandler in NoMusical, Amanda Seyfried for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical, and Ariana Grande for Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture – Comedy or Musical.

On the drama side, Chloé Zhao’s Hamnet was recognized with two acting wins. Jessie Buckley earned Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama, while Jacobi Jupe received the Astra Award for Best Young Performer.

Neon’s critically acclaimed international drama Sentimental Value also made a strong showing, securing two Astra Awards, including Best International Feature and Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for Stellan Skarsgård.

Petco Love once again hosted a pet adoption event on-site and those in attendance met adoptable dogs in need of loving homes. In partnership with Petco and more than 4,000 animal welfare organizations across North America, Petco Love has helped find loving homes for more than 7.1 million pets — and counting.
