>SAVANNAH, GEORGIA (Oct. 04, 2024) — The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has announced programming for its inaugural TV Sidebar, presented in partnership with Deadline. In an era where television has become as cinematic and boundary-pushing as film, the SCAD Savannah Film Festival has partnered with Deadline for TV Sidebar, a series of special events and screenings that highlight the artistic renaissance of episodic storytelling. This year’s programming includes screenings of Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along, HBO’s Somebody Somewhere, and Amazon Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions. Deadline’s senior TV writer Lynette Rice will moderate Q&As with participants at each event.
Kathryn Hahn will receive the Spotlight Award on Saturday, Nov. 2, as part of a screening of Marvel Television’s limited series for Disney+, Agatha All Along. In the series, Hahn revives her celebrated character Agatha Harkness, who originated in Marvel Television’s WandaVision series. For WandaVision, in which she co-starred alongside Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, Hahn received a 2021 Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Limited or Anthology Series. Hahn’s film credits include Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, Private Life, Bad Words, Afternoon Delight, We’re the Millers, Revolutionary Road, Step Brothers, Bad Moms, and Bad Mom Christmas. Her TV credits include Tiny Beautiful Things, Transparent, I Love Dick, I Know This Much is True, Mrs. Fletcher, Crossing Jordan and Parks and Rec.
The festival will screen episodes from the third and final season of the Peabody Award-winning and critically acclaimed HBO Original comedy series Somebody Somewhere on Friday, Nov. 1. Starring, written, and executive produced by comedian and singer Bridget Everett the series follows Sam (Everett), a true Kansan on the surface, but, beneath it all, struggling to fit the hometown mold. Grappling with loss and acceptance, singing is Sam’s saving grace and leads her on a journey to discover herself and a community of outsiders who don’t fit in but don’t give up, showing that finding your people, and finding your voice, is possible — anywhere, somewhere. In season three, viewers will see growth against all odds. A Q&A with actor, writer, and executive producer Bridget Everett; co-creators and executive producers Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen; and actors Jeff Hiller and Mary Catherine Garrison immediately follows the screening.
In this new adaptation, Cruel Intentions takes place at an elite Washington, D.C. college, where two ruthless step-siblings, Caroline Merteuil (Sarah Catherine Hook) and Lucien Belmont (Zac Burgess), will do anything to stay on top of the cutthroat social hierarchy. After a brutal hazing incident threatens the entire Greek Life system at their school, they’ll do whatever is necessary to preserve their power and reputation, even if that means seducing Annie Grover (Savannah Lee Smith), the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The festival will screen an episode on Saturday, Nov. 2 with cast members to participate in a Q&A following the screening. The show premieres in November.
