Palm Springs, CA (September 4, 2024) – Celebrating its 36th anniversary, the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) will return January 2-13, 2025. The Festival’s culturally diverse program presents a large selection of films submitted for consideration in the Best International Feature Film category for the Academy Awards, as well as highlights American independent and international features and documentaries.

The Opening Night screening of the Festival will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025. Closing Night will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2024, followed by the ‘Best of the Festival’ screenings on Monday, January 13.

The Festival will also hold its annual star-studded black-tie Film Awards, presented by Silvercrest, on Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Palm Springs Convention Center. The internationally renowned event remains a must-stop as part of the awards season. Nearly all of the honorees at the 2024 Film Awards went on to receive Academy Award nominations including Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell, Carey Mulligan, Cillian Murphy, Colman Domingo, Danielle Brooks, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Emma Stone, Greta Gerwig, Jeffrey Wright, as well as the cast and director of Killers of the Flower Moon. Murphy, Randolph, Stone, Eilish and O’Connell all won Academy Awards in their respective categories.

During the Festival, several of its tentpole programs including Talking Pictures, Books to Screen, and the Best International Feature Film director panels, will take place. These conversations will bring cinematic icons and key industry changemakers in-person to Palm Springs, offering intimate conversations and in-depth insight into the year’s most exciting films. Locally, too, the Festival will continue its initiative toward the aspiring student filmmakers of the Coachella Valley, returning with Family Day on Sunday, January 12, and expanding its Student Screening Day program.

The Palm Springs International Film Society is a 501(c)(3) charitable non-profit organization whose mission is to cultivate and promote the art and science of film through education and cross-cultural awareness. The Film Society produces the Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) and Film Awards in January and the Palm Springs ShortFest in June. In addition to curating the best in international cinema, PSIFF’s Film Awards has come to be known as the first stop on the campaign trail for the Academy Awards® and its Oscar®-qualifying ShortFest is the largest short film festival and market in North America. Its festivals, year-round member screenings and educational programs manifest our organization’s mission by nurturing and encouraging new filmmaking talent, honoring the great masters of world cinema, and expanding audience horizons.
