One Battle After Another. Courtest of Warner Bros.

The 2026 Critics Choice Awards spread the wealth during tonight’s ceremony. Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another received the award for Best Picture. Anderson picked up two other wins for Adapted Screenplay and Direction. The overall win leader, however, went to two other films, both with four wins. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein received wins mostly in the crafts category in addition to a win for Jacob Elordi in Supporting Actor. Nomination leader Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, also received four awards including a Young Actor/Actress trophy for star Miles Caton.

Best Actor went to Marty Supreme‘s Timothee Chalamet. Hamnet‘s Jessie Buckley won Best Actress.

On the TV front, The Pitt, The Studio, and Adolescence dominated much as they did at the 2025 Emmy Awards.

See below for the full list of winners. Check back with us tomorrow night as Megan returns from the ceremony and tells us about her experience on our Contending at the Water Cooler podcast.

The only head scratcher here is Elordi. I'm hoping Skarsgard can get some traction for a career win.

So glad to see Ms Seehorn winning. She is a force of nature in Pluribus and despite excellent work from other candidates, absolutely deserves the win.

What doesn't deserve its situation is Pluribus being snubbed nominations in all other categories. Still, glad to see this win and hopefully a season 2 will happen soon.

Here’s hoping Hamnet somehow revives to be rewarded for the sublime work that it is. I know I’m dreaming here, but it’s just unfortunate the shocking consensus around OBAA, and I say this as a fan of the film. I think it is also masterfully put together, but I certainly don’t believe it is the best thing onscreen in the last decade or two like the critics seem to.

Am I the only one fairly disappointed, and I guess bored, with the way this season is playing out?

For whatever reason, there's nothing this year that I feel super passionate about. All the contenders are good and I'd be fine with them winning, but I don't have a strong favorite. OBAA is good but it's not an all-timer.
