“Goodbye for Now” features a great deal of spying, another hate crime, and a mysterious new neighbor on Wisteria Lane.

Desperate Housewives episode twenty-two, “Goodbye for Now,” sets up a great deal of action that will be resolved in the first season finale. First up, Edie finds the newly happy Mike and Susan incredibly annoying. So much so that she gathers the other housewives in a pitiful attempt at a “Mike intervention.” Does Susan bite? And is she truly fully over his mysterious darker side?

In other developments, Lynette further plots to keep Tom faithful and at home, but does her endless scheming finally come back to haunt her? Carlos’s prison stint finally arrives, but his marriage to Gabby has never been more jeopardized. When he suspects new (gay) lawn boy Justin of sleeping with Gabby, Carlos again embarks on an ill-conceived attempt at redemption, only to find himself committing yet another hate crime.

Finally, Bree and George’s friendship may be at an end thanks to an ill-timed erection. But George’s Lynette-level plotting and scheming pit Bree and Rex against each other, causing Rex to suffer a major heart attack. Is this the end of Rex Van de Kamp?

With only ONE episode left, we’re winding down Desperate Housewives Revisited. If you’ve never seen Desperate Housewives, then you need to start before we close things out with the finale. The Emmy-winning series streams on Hulu / Disney+. Catch up with our podcasts here! Next week, we look at episode twenty-three, “One Wonderful Day,” the first season finale.
