We look at the contentious Comedy Series Emmy race where any number of series could fill the final few nominee slots.

We’ve broken down the Drama Series 2025 Emmy race. We looked at the weaker Limited Series Emmy field. Now, it’s time for Comedy Series. Much like Drama, Comedy boasts five near-guaranteed contenders: Hacks, The Bear, Abbott Elementary, Only Murders In the Building, and The Studio. After that, it’s a wide-open field. The Residence, Shrinking, Nobody Wants This, and other series all offer narratives that could lead to a comedy series nomination. Using Megan’s recent analysis piece as a springboard, we talk through several possibilities as to which comedy series can complete this year’s comedy race nominees.

We close our podcast with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.

If you haven’t heard it yet, take a listen to our spin-off series, Desperate Housewives Revisited, where Joey and Clarence look back at the first season of Marc Cherry’s 2004 phenomenon.

We’re deeply appreciative for your shares, likes, and positive ratings on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

Love Hacks based on first two episodes so far but would love to see Only Murders prevail. The fourth season was incredible I thought and I love spreading the wealth so all these great series can win at least once. The Studio while good is spinning it's wheels a bit too much for me. I feel like I can predict how every episode is gonna play out and while not terrible it just isn't as great to me and I love cinema making.

Most people online will say it's a 2-way race between Hacks and The Studio, but I'm not convinced of that. I'm with you thinking it's between Only Murders and Hacks. The Emmys relationship to new series is tentative at best unless the show is a cultural phenom like The Bear.
