Apple’s freshman season comedy Widow’s Bay was the big title of the night, winning an Emmy for every category for which it was nominated. Even in the face of a potential split vote in Supporting Actress. Voting members of the Television Academy clearly loved the series, giving it six 2026 Primetime Emmy Awards including Comedy Series. It even overcame some not insignificant buzz about whether or not it belonged in the Comedy category at all. Regardless, the Emmys didn’t care. They voted for what they loved, and Widow’s Bay they loved.
That left Hacks with a single Emmy win tonight as Jean Smart became the first performer to win an Emmy for all seasons of their series.
On the Drama front, The Pitt had a good night, yet again winning Drama Series without a writing or directing win (those went to Pluribus and Slow Horses, respectively). Pluribus took home two trophies with Rhea Seehorn finally winning an Emmy, Lead Actress in a Drama Series.
Since most of the Limited Series trophies were presented last weekend during the Creative Arts Emmys, there were only a handful presented tonight. DTF St. Louis took home the award for Limited Series while The Beast In Me‘s Matthew Rhys made history by winning two lead performance Emmys (the other was Widow’s Bay). Sally Field won a surprise Emmy for the television movie Remarkably Bright Creatures.
We’ll be podcasting about the ceremony tomorrow night. Overall, it was a fairly ineffective outing with the surprise wins and the In Memoriam segment (Dolly! Catherine!) highlights of the night.
