2024 Emmys: ‘Saturday Night Live,’ Angela Bassett Among Creative Arts Night One Winners

The Television Academy announced the winners of the 2024 Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Night One, at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles tonight. Night Two will happen tomorrow night (where more of the Drama, Comedy, and Limited Series categories will be up).

Of tonight’s nominees, Saturday Night Live led with six wins. Jim Henson Idea Man, Billy Joel: The 100th — Live at Madison Square Garden, Welcome to Wrexham, and The 96th Oscars all took home multiple wins.

One of tonight’s most popular wins was Angela Bassett’s win in the Outstanding Narrator category for National Geographic’s Queens. This is her first win after 9 nominations.

Overall, FX’s Shōgun leads the 2024 Emmy nominations with 25 with the network’s The Bear following closely with 23 nominations. Hulu’s Only Murders In the Building took third place with 21 nominations. Their Creative Arts Emmy nominations will be announced in tomorrow’s ceremony.

The major / above-the-line Emmy awards will be announced on September 15 in the Primetime ceremony, live on ABC.
