Trailer: Netflix Releases a Teaser Trailer for Cannes Sensation ‘Emilia Pérez’

I purposefully remained blind to Emilia Pérez because it instantly felt like the kind of film you want to walk into completely cold. The teaser trailer confirms that. I have no idea if the editing rhythms work within the context of the film as they do in the trailer, but it’s beautifully cut, splicing action to the score.

Looks promising. I cannot wait to see it.

Here’s the tagline:

From renegade auteur Jacques Audiard comes Emilia Pérez, an audacious fever dream that defies genres and expectations. Through liberating song and dance and bold visuals, this odyssey follows the journey of the fearsome cartel leader Emilia (Karla Sofía Gascón), enlists Rita (Zoe Saldaña), an unappreciated lawyer stuck in a dead-end job, to help fake her death so that Emilia can finally live authentically as her true self. Written and directed by Audiard (Rust and Bone, A Prophet), the double Cannes-winning film also stars Selena Gomez, Adriana Paz, and Edgar Ramírez.
Emilia Pérez debuts in select theaters (US & Canada) on November 1  and on Netflix November 13.

Looks interesting but I have zero confidence in Netflix to run a competent campaign based on the last seven or eight years since streamers joined the fray.

This was my favorite of the nearly 30 films I saw in Cannes. I was in cinema heaven.

Danny, sorry your comment was held in “pending approval” for 2 hours. I just now noticed.
