With the Oscars behind us, it’s time to turn our focus to the 2025 Emmy Awards. We kick things off with a look at Drama Series.

The Contending’s own Jalal Haddad joins Joey, Megan, and Clarence to kick-start our look at the 2025 Emmy race. We start with the Drama Series category where only Apple’s Slow Horses remains in contention out of last year’s 8 nominees. So, what joins it in this post-strike climate? We break down all major Drama Series contenders from HBO / MAX, Netflix, Apple, Hulu, and many more. Will past nominees Squid Game, The Handmaid’s Tale, House of the Dragon, Severance, The Last Of Us, and more return? Will Netflix’s The Diplomat break out after receiving strong support from SAG / AFTRA this year? Or will The Diplomat, The Pitt, or Matlock make their first foray into the Drama Series race? Find out our first thoughts on the season!

We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.

If you haven’t heard it yet, take a listen to our spin-off series, Desperate Housewives Revisited, where Joey and Clarence look back at the first season of Marc Cherry’s 2004 phenomenon. Be sure to check out our recent interview with Mrs. Huber, played by guest star Christine Estabrook.

We’re deeply appreciative for your shares, likes, and positive ratings on Apple Podcasts or Spotify.

It probably won't be even whispered at Emmys but Netflix's Asura deserves serious love and attention.
With 4 amazing co-leads in a tender and endearing post-war family drama directed by Hirokazu Koreeda-san (Shoplifters (2018) & many more), Asura is breathingly beautiful & lovely. How it's stayed so underseen really defies any artistic logic.

I have never heard of it until you just mentioned it. The reviews are fantastic. I wonder, though, if this will instead campaign in the International Emmys race.

      I loved Asura.

With the Oscars over I look forward to the upcoming Emmys race. At this stage whose winning looks so uncertain given the amount of high profile contenders that I hope for a variety of winners in the categories rather than one big winner in each genre like we've gotten every year in the post pandemic Emmys.
White Lotus, Severance and Last of Us all make sense as series winners and truly i believe it's gonna be a tight race between all three in basically every drama race.

I am most gonna be interested in the supporting races cause there are many great performances to be considered. I do fear White Lotus and Severance will dominate both categories but having seen the majority of both seasons many of the supporting performers from both shows would be worthy.

The only drama series I really want to get nominated which likely will not is Interview with the Vampire, the shows second season was so brilliant like it's first and sadly us not in peak AMC at the Emmys will lead that series to be overlooked AGAIN.

Need to checkout Interview with The Vampire but Severance.. it deserves to any and all awards at once (But only after letting me gather piece of my mushed and scattered brain).

Hi. Finally got kicked at AD. So I’ll be here from now on

Aha! One more reason for me to finally get out of AD.
Your posts alongside rufussondheim (+ Sammy to some degree) were the only things I came to check out. Hoping to see in The Contending (Or other decent cinema sites you would recommend)

Please find a way to tell Elio what happened.

Hi Glen, I am here! I texted to Ryan even before he awakened to his morning. I asked him what it was going on at AD, even before he knew about it.

I hoped that I would find you Glen and all of the other best people here. This site has all the writing excellence that used to be there.

Did Jake get banned off there too? I did not get banned, for reasons unknown. I have not had time to be online this month.

My last week of lessons ends on next Friday, 21 March. My exams then begin 28 March. This is the reason probably how she didn't ban me too. Lately I was not around there very much.

            Thanks for checking in.

I had help to find you!

The front page of this site, it is beautiful but I need a map. LOL. But this my own fault, for today I found at the bottom of site, we can arrange the articles by Film and TV. This way I can see the contents better.

Did Paul Thomas Anderson take a dump in Sasha’s cereal? She’s really invested in trying to kill his movie

That Alejandro guy is the snitch. Glad everyone is able to see how this all played out.

But now he has blocked me after I have called out his games. He tried to scare me away, but now it is he who hides from fear.

His pattern was the same with every new ID he invented. He would pick out someone to harass them until he caused a fight. Then he would delete all his comments and disappear his own ID.

He now has been revealed. I have not seen him return to Awards Daily but he is now at the Jeff Wells site.

Would you please tell Sasha that Moana 2 wasn’t a case of “sticking to the formula”. It was going to be a Disney+ tv series and they combined a bunch of finished episodes into a finished movie and gave the Rock a pile of money to re-record the dialogue. It was cynical as hell, but sash left that out because it didn’t fit her thesis

          • Glen Runciter says:

I saw Sasha threatening to ban you. She’s simply not worth it

          • Glen Runciter says:

Sasha has been gunning after you for months, but her online harassment has crossed into bullying. One of the other comments she deleted was when you nicely complimented me and wished I hadn’t been purged.

Hard truth time, there’s nothing you can do to avoid getting banned. Why? Because you’re smarter than her. You know more than her. And you don’t bend the knee and tell her she’s always right and everyone else is always wrong. Chase bending the knee was stupefying.

          • Glen Runciter says:

And I will say nothing else here about any of this

          • Glen Runciter says:

I’m obviously parked here now. I’ll admit that I was planning my departure for a while now. It was going to culminate in me telling Sasha who I actually was the whole time.

    Severance will romp

    • ElioFidelio says:

I have not had any time to see this yet. Really I keep forgetting. Thank you Glen for keeping it in the front of my head.
