“Suspicious Minds” focuses on Gabby (Eva Longoria) as she attempts redemption only to have the world pulled out from under her.

Desperate Housewives’ ninth episode, “Suspicious Minds,” Eva Longoria’s Gabrielle Solis takes center stage. That, again, causes Joey and Clarence to marvel at how critics and audiences took Longoria for granted in the original run of the series. On a second watch, she’s one of the brightest stars in the series. Here, Gabby’s attempt at redemption leads her to orchestrate a charity fashion show. Unexpectedly, the Gabby / John relationship explodes as Susan and John’s mother, Helen, find out. Shockingly, that isn’t the biggest of Gabby’s problems this episode.

“Suspicious Minds” also features Susan and Julie further evolving the Mary Alice drama. When Zach escapes his psychiatric ward, Julie agrees to hide him in her room without Susan’s knowledge. There, Zach reveals details about potentially suppressed memories involving Paul, Mary Alice, and the mysterious Dana.

Lynette needs a nanny, putting Felicity Huffman on the back burner for the episode after a massive, multi-episode storyline. Finally, Bree and Rex become increasingly divided on how to address Andrew’s total lack of remorse for his recent illegal actions. This and much more as Joey staggers through the recap following a wine club. This you have to hear to believe.

If you’ve never seen Desperate Housewives, then now is a great time to start. The series is available to stream on Hulu / Disney+. Catch up with our podcasts here!
