Top Ten Tuesday: The 10 Best Marvel Movies
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Happy Tuesday, dear readers! Each week, we’ll rank the top 10 films in a specific category. While we aim to tie these lists to big releases, that won’t always be the case. Our goal? For you to enjoy, share your own lists, and join in on a lively, friendly debate. This is an interactive space to build community here at The Contending.

No fancy intros, no long essays – just a category and a list. Sound good?

With Captain America: Brave New World in theaters this weekend, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is entering a new chapter – one where Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) picks up the shield of Captain America following the departure of Steve Rogers (Chris Evans). Starring alongside Mackie are Giancarlo Esposito, Danny Ramirez, Carl Lumbly, Tim Blake Nelson, Shira Haas, and Harrison Ford as President Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross.

As the MCU continues to expand, now is the perfect time to revisit the films that have defined the franchise. From game-changing origin stories to unforgettable team-ups, we’re ranking the top ten Marvel movies that have left a lasting impact.

Let’s dive in!

Even with Brave New World on the horizon, I'd put Iron Man (2008) instead of the Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) inside the list.

That said, the picks are perfect. I'm especially in favor of number 1.
Still can't believe a MCU movie could be that fatalistically dark and emotionally moving.

I have the first Iron Man just outside my top 10, with Spider-Man: Homecoming and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
